short and (occasionally) not so short ramblings about the live music that i have "witnessed".

SIR ALICE ::

SIR ALICE + UMBERTO GOLLINI + ICKE MICKE DJs
fluc-mensa / vienna, austria
08. oct. 2004

damn it, i love this city! vienna might be a tiny place and not have too much to show for itself... but that's only how it seems! for all its small-ness, vienna delivers frigging huge amounts of to-do-ables! especially whenever it comes to subculture. see SIR ALICE live at the fluc_mensa.
the fluc itself is a very nice project. the venue is led by a trio of artists (painters and musicians), who are using older, unused parts of subway waiting rooms for their club. the fluc_mensa is a couple of feet away from the original fluc and used to be a student's mensa, but is also no longer in use... at least not as a mensa. it has become the fluc's event hall for "bigger" shows.

SIR ALICE. well, what can i say. those of you who don't know her should check out the tigersushi homepage for some info. basically it's raw electropunk, is it was meant to be. and i really did like the concert, but... maybe, just maybe, SIR ALICE is one of those acts where you really don't miss out on anything if you haven't seen her perform live. it was nice and all, but i could've just as well listened to the cd at home. and she should keep her clothes on next time.

but mr. viennese super-dj UMBERTO GOLLINI made it all up by dishing out some delicious, booty-shaking, groove-making, heart-breaking electro, minimal techno and other danceables before and after the concert. we were shaking our tailfeathers until 3 in the morning to his tunes! we would've continued, if not for the fact that most of us were having a DnB day, so we moved to the roxy - a VERY NICE club - were we continued on doing the monkey until 5 a.m. - for inspiring me to dance, SIR ALICE, i thank thee.
