JBEEZ in da house!!! ok. anybody here who doesn't know about the JBEEZ? say what??!?! well, then .get fuckin' EDUCATED! just kidding. ;)

but, yeah, the JUNGLE BROTHERS were one of the most influential hip hop combos of the late 80ies and early 90ies. basically you could call 'em the successors to AFRIKA BAMBAATA's massive and impressive groundwork. what AFRIKA had started, the JBEEZ furthered... only, that they were ahead of their time. the JBEEZ never really had their big commercial break, which really is a pity.

so, anyway, the JBEEZ played at flex in front of a really meager crowd. ok, so it was monday and it was really late (stage time of the JBEEZ @ 01:30 !!!), but still... i mean, for fuck's sake, it's the JUNGLE BROTHERS, goshdarnit! the problem, i think, was basically that the JBEEZ didn't put out anything for a very, very long time - which kind of made them fade away from people's awareness - and the cover fee was just way too high (17.-). so, they did their thing in front of, i'd say, 200 people. which really is nothing at all. still, it was fun seeing them do their thing and although the crowd was really hard (viennes crowds are always hard to get going, especially if it's monday night), but they managed. i can only imagine what kind of party it would have been, if there had been more people... on another weekday, perhaps friday. oh well...

nevertheless, great fun to hear the music that goes with lines like "house music all night long! say what?" or "when i say jungle, you say brother!" or "educated man from the motherland, you see they call me a star but that's not what i am." - and i got to meet a couple of old friends i hadn't seen in years. nice one.
